"She has been a lifeline of support and guidance to our family. Her approach and skills that she applies to our sessions are fantastic & we are seeing great progress within each session. We wouldn't be without our OT and Rosie. The way she delivers our sessions and her approach are spot on. She has so much empathy and understanding, and it just feels like a natural relationship."
"Rosie did some great assessments in the form of games, and my son really did have a relaxing time. Rosie did a great job, thank you!"
"I just want to say thank you so much for your time yesterday. You were absolutely amazing with our child. And we've learnt so much in that small space of time about our child which we never knew."
"Rosie has a wonderful manner; she is extremely kind and patient with our child's needs plus her in-depth knowledge and advice are invaluable."

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps individuals take part in the everyday activities that bring meaning, purpose, and joy to life. For children, this might include playing, moving, learning, building friendships, or managing daily routines. Using purposeful activities as therapeutic tools, I support children to develop key skills and overcome challenges whether through restorative approaches to build new abilities or compensatory strategies to support participation in a different way.
At the heart of occupational therapy is collaboration and goal setting, working with children and families to identify what really matters to them, and taking practical, supportive steps toward achieving it.
As the saying goes:
“Medicine adds days to life, but occupational therapy adds life to days.”

Occupational Therapist
Meet Rosie Beisty
Hi I'm Rosie I'm a passionate occupational therapist specialising in sensory integration.
My work is rooted in helping children and families understand and respond to sensory processing needs with care, compassion, and evidence-based strategies.
I have extensive experience supporting children and adults who have experienced early adversity, and I work with a trauma-informed approach that prioritises safety, connection, and understanding.
I believe in looking beyond behaviour to truly understand what a child’s sensory system is telling us. My mantra that I often tell families I am working with is: "the body knows what the brain needs." from the amazing book ‘The Body Keeps the Score’ written by Bessel Van Der Kolk. By using this approach, and ensuring my practice falls within fidelity, all sessions are child led, play focused, with practical hands on support.

How our brains process and respond to information
Sensory Integration
Sensory integration is how our brains process and respond to information from our eight senses - including touch, movement, sound, sight, smell, taste and body awareness (internally and externally). When this process is disrupted, it can impact a child’s participation in everyday tasks, their emotional regulation, and their relationships.
I use sensory integration therapy to support children in understanding and managing these experiences - through playful, hands-on therapy that meets them where they are.

Sensory integration therapy aims to support children to:
-
Feel safe, understood and regulated
-
Improve emotional regulation and attention
-
Develop coordination, balance and postural control Build confidence in movement and play
-
Participate more fully at home, school and in daily life
-
All sessions are delivered using a trauma and attachment framework grounded in sensory attachment intervention (SAI) theory.
This means therapy prioritises emotional safety, trust and connection, recognising the close link between a child's sensory processing, regulation and relationships.
Children are supported to co-regulate within a safe, predictable and nurturing
therapeutic relationship.
Sessions can be delivered:
-
In your home
-
In school or nursery
-
At the Best Start Therapy Cabin, a sensory-rich therapeutic space
-
Parents and caregivers are an essential part of the therapy journey. Support, guidance and practical strategies are shared to help strengthen connection, co-regulation and carry progress into everyday life.
Our Values

Compassion
We listen without judgment. We honour your experiences and gently support change at a pace that feels right for you. Seeing the whole child, working with their strengths and not just focussing on the area of difficulty. Building person-centred plans that support emotional, physical, and sensory wellbeing.

Creativity
We think outside the box — using play, movement, and hands-on activities tailored to your child’s unique needs. From obstacle courses to sensory games, sessions are designed to be fun, meaningful, and targeted at building motor skills, sensory tolerance, and emotional regulation.

Integrity
We do what’s right, not just what’s easy. We’re evidence-based, honest, and transparent in all that we offer.

Authenticity
We show up as real people - grounded, open, and human. We create safe spaces where children and families can be themselves. Helping families and professionals recognise how sensory processing affects daily life.

Belief
We believe in every child’s potential and every family’s strength. Even when things feel hard, we hold hope and walk alongside you. Working with those around the child to create sensory-informed environments.

Trust
Relationships are central. We build trust with both the child and the adults around them, because healing and growth happen in connection.
Working alongside the family in order to promote opportunities of shared joy, which will aim to facilitate strategies of co-regulation and attunement.
These values guide everything we do at Best Start Therapy. Helping children begin, or begin again, with the best start.

The Best Start Therapy Space

Therapy takes place in a cosy wooden cabin in the garden. It is quiet, private, and designed to feel relaxed and child-friendly. Many young people find the space helps them feel more at ease from the very first session.
